It includes several variables that impact profitability, using conservative assumptions based on industry averages that were used in a Return on Investment (ROI) model developed by Online Resources. Key findings from the model suggest that financial institutions can reach profitability with adoption rates as low as 11 percent, depending on the services offered to customers and the level at which those services are marketed. The article also features a case study of The Mechanics Bank, an Online Resources client, which has achieved Internet channel profitability through an aggressive marketing strategy.
